May's Highlights

Congratulations

Congratulations Trinity! On May 7, 2023 two candidates were confirmed as they affirmed their baptism. God gave us a beautiful day and extended family attended worship to embrace this important day in the lives of two members of your congregation.

Gavin Christopher Ballay

Lydia Grace Rodichok

Family assisted in worship adding a special touch. That family, Julie Ballay who not only was mother of Gavin but Julie committed to the two years Gavin underwent confirmation serving as an adult guide. In fact she served Adelle’s last year of confirmation in the same capacity. Jason Kramer served as an adult guide who along with Julie led their own small groups as he attended every week with Lyla her first year and with Ava for her two years of confirmation. I am every grateful for that kind of commitment to the program. Moms and Dads, I cannot compliment you enough that you saw your children to confirmation and worship – praise be to God. And the confirmands themselves – who encountered the Apostles Creed, Lord’s Prayer and Ten Commandments and hopefully had some fun along the way. Thank you one and all!

On Sunday May 14th we celebrated Mother’s Day

You fed us when all we knew was that we were hungry.
You watched every “ounce” of growth and recorded it in your mental notebook.
You felt the separation anxiety the first time you dropped us in a class.
You provided conversation and embraced us with patience.
You have made special each passage of life and continue to do so.
Thank you to our mothers for all matters small and large.
And, most of all, for the gift of life.
Happy Mother’s Day!

Blessings for Seed and Soil (Rogate) Sunday, May 14th

Prayer for Seeds

Creating God, You have given seed to the sower and bread to the people. Nourish, protect, and bless the seeds which your people have sown in hope. By your loving and bountiful giving, may they bring forth their fruit in due season, through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen

Prayer for Soil

Giver of life, we give you thanks that in the richness of the soil, nature awakens to your call of spring. We praise you for the smell of freshly tilled earth, the beauty of a cleanly cut furrow, and a well-plowed field. We ask that you help us to be good stewards of this land, in the name of the one who gives us new life, Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen

Prayer for Water and Rain

Sustaining God, we receive the fruits of the earth from you. We give you thanks for the smell of the earth after rain, for its welcome cooling, and its necessary hydration for the land. We ask that the rain come as often as it is needed so that the crops may flourish and the evening harvest be indeed bountiful. Amen

Thank You!

Sincere Thank you to Cindy Kramer for serving as Worship Leader and Beau Troutman for reading the sermon on Sunday, May 21st as Pastor Diefenderfer presided at worship and confirmed Friedens candidates.

Trinity’s 2023 Lip Sync Show

We also thank Kylene Kroh for directing this awesome show, those who helped her and those who participated. Thanks also to the Kitchen Committee who prepared a delicious meal for us to enjoy. Most of all we thank God for this special evening of fellowship. We can’t wait for the next one (hint, hint).

20th Apartment Cleaned and Furnished for Brethren Housing Association (BHA)

This past month, members of Trinity and St. James Pitman completed the cleaning and furnishing of the 20th apartment for Brethren Housing Association’s (BHA) Adopt-An-Apartment Program. Located in Harrisburg, this apartment is a first and second floor, two-bedroom residence which will become home for a young mother and her family. As always, a big thank-you to all who helped clean, and for donating and transporting the items needed to complete the furnishing of this apartment and helping to make it a home for this young mother and her family.

Agape Table Meal

May’s Agape meal was enjoyed by 70 people, plus we had enough leftover food to send spaghetti, meatballs, Italian bread, and cake to take to Haven Ministries in Sunbury.

June’s Agape meal will be held on Wednesday, June 14 at 5:30 in the social hall. Our June menu will be hot dog/bun, baked beans, chips, applesauce, and cupcakes. Please consider joining us for food and fellowship! Pass the word to your friends and neighbors. Trinity’s Agape Table meal is always free. No offering is ever taken at the meal. Although registration is not required, signing up helps the Kitchen Committee better plan the amount of food to cook. You can sign up on the easel at the back of the sanctuary, or by calling the church office.
