April-May Highlights
Word of Thanks
To Dara Troutman and Carolyn Dunkelberger and their helpers who taught Holy Week over the course of Lent in Sunday School; our chair of Worship and Music and Choir Director, Cindy Kramer; the choir who sings their sermons; the faithful who were able to attend Ash Wednesday and midweeks; Tracey Witmer who faithfully has provided bulletins over the course of Lent; Joan Klinger who keeps the office and makes connections to keep the ship afloat; our four organists- Jack Umholtz, Dan Umholtz, Sherry McDonald and Phyllis Klouser; the Altar Guild who keeps the church adorned and communion prepared; and finally, for the crucifixion and the resurrection without which there would be no church.

Douglas Troutman Memorial Concert
Men in Harmony held a concert in memory of Doug Troutman on Saturday, April 23rd. Doug had been an accompanist at Trinity for many years and this concert was held to remember and honor him. Men in Harmony along with Jack and Dan Umholtz performed and a light luncheon was held in the Social Hall following the concert. We thank the Kitchen Committee for their help with the luncheon.
Music Sunday
On Sunday, May 1st we celebrated Music Sunday with awesome special music. Many thanks to all the Trinity and St. Andrew’s musicians who volunteered to share their talents on Music Sunday. We are blessed to have such talented people in our midst. We often take their roles in our worship services for granted, but on this day we recognized the talents they offer to enrich our worship experiences.
Brady Bunch Variety Hour
On Sunday evening, May 1st we were thoroughly entertained by the talented folks who participated in the Brady Bunch Variety Hour Lip Sync. The show was one hour of pure pleasure, and everyone in attendance left wanting more. You couldn’t help but smile during the entire performance. We thank God for this special evening and for those willing to create such an enjoyable fellowship experience - Kylene Kroh for directing this awesome performance, those who helped her and to those who participated. Thanks also to the Kitchen Committee who prepared a delicious meal for us to enjoy.
Happy Mother’s Day
A special word of recognition and appreciation for that special calling in life, motherhood. Never should we take your care, concern, sacrifice and, at times, your admonition for granted. Once a child always a child no matter how old a mother has grown, you tell me. Carnations were given during worship as we say thank you and give you a virtual hug. Pastor Diefenderfer
Sunday School
We finished another Sunday School year on May 22nd as we completed an experimental series called All Kids Spark which combines upper and lower aged pupils to hear and to experience a Bible Study a week. Lesson plans were compiled and provided for teachers and assistants. And we hosted a different Sunday School teacher each week. (Nobody was worn out)
Patriotic Sunday
May 28 and 29.
Stars Spangled Banner on violin
Taps on a trumpet to conclude worship
National Hymns
Above all: We remembered those how made the supreme sacrifice for their nation. We remembered those soldiers who sacrificed their lives to breach a gap where power became abusive and where humanity lost their freedom and self-determination.
We posthumously say, “Thank you for your service.”
One thing all church people should never forget that because we are protected,
we can worship every Sunday.
Praise be to God.
Community Memorial Day Service
Your pastor was present at Friedens Cemetery on Sunday, May 29th, to pray over and for our deceased veterans who offered the ultimate sacrifice for their nation and to bless their graves.
Agape Table Meal
Trinity’s April Agape Table Meal served 65 meals. May’s Agape Table Meal served 80 dinners.
The menu for the June 8, 5:30 PM meal will be beef barbecue/bun, potato salad, chips, and brownies/rice krispie treats. If you’ll be attending, please sign up on the easel at the back of the sanctuary or call the church office (570 )682-9373 and leave your name of number of people attending. (This count helps the kitchen committee more accurately plan for how much food to prepare.) Our Agape Table Meal is open to EVERYONE, so please spread the word. It is always free, and you do not need to be a member of Trinity to attend.
