February Highlights
Boy Scout Sunday
On Sunday, February 6th we welcomed boy scouts and leaders from Troup 662. We are happy to be their sponsoring organization, and we thank them for coming and helping to lead worship and take part our worship service.
Valentine’s Breakfast
Our Sunday School students enjoyed a delicious Valentine’s Breakfast!
Soup Sunday
Mmmmm, Mmmmmm, Good! We enjoyed an array of delicious homemade soups and some great fellowship after worship on Soup Sunday, February 20th. Thanks to all the souper great cooks who provided our meal, the Kitchen Committee for setting and cleaning up, and to all who participated in this event. We had a real good time!
From St. John’s Emergency Food Closet
Another year has passed and because of your donations of money/food, the Food Closet of St. John’s was able to help many families in the year 2021.
The only stipulation is that they live in the Tri-Valley area. If they are attending a church in the Tri-Valley area but live outside the area, they are also eligible for food from St John’s Food Closet.
The board of St. John’s Emergency Food Closet would like to thank all of you for your gracious giving. This mission is only able to continue through your donations, and we pray that you would continue supporting this project. We also want to thank the volunteers, food packers, and drivers/deliverers who give of their time to help our mission be a success.
First Communion Instruction
Our First Communion instruction took place on February 1, 8, 15, and 22 as we began looking at family rules and God’s rules which reminds us at times that we need to be forgiven. We constructed a puzzle of verbs that are included in the Bible’s communication that communion is important, in fact, a command (in four places). We shared how special remembering can be using bread and wine. We tasted foods that Christ used in the Passover meal as he took hold of matzo and wine bringing new meaning to these foods when we commune. Finally, we discussed how God only requires that we trust as a child would trust their parent when we approach the reception of the Sacrament. We welcome our fellow member Jude Earl Zimmerman to the table of the Lord. Congratulations!
Agape Table Meal
Trinity’s Agape Table meal is served the second Wednesday of every month at 5:30 PM. All are welcome. There is no income, age, or church membership requirement to attend. We would love to see our attendance grow back to pre-pandemic levels. Please consider sharing a free meal with us on the second Wednesday of each month, and spread the word to your family, friends, and neighbors! Although preregistration is not required, it is encouraged so that the Kitchen Committee has an idea of how much food to prepare. (Take outs are available for shut ins.)
In February, 78 meals were served. Our next meal will be on Wednesday, March 9 at 5:30 PM. March’s menu will be shepherd’s pie, pepper cabbage, homemade applesauce, rolls, and cake. If you’d like to preregister, please sign your name on the sheet at the back of the sanctuary, or call the office at (570) 682-9373 and leave your name, phone number, and number attending. We hope to see more of you there!
