September Highlights
Vacation Bible School and Mission Trip Presentations
During worship on Sunday, September 8th we had the privilege of sharing the wonderful spiritual growth experiences of those who attended Vacation Bible School in June and participated in the Mission Trip in July. Our sincere thanks to all who made these events possible, to those who participated, and to those who shared these experiences with us. Thanks to Kylene Kroh for leading the program.
Vacation Bible School - SCUBA
This year’s Vacation Bible School (VBS) program was SCUBA – diving into a friendship with God! SCUBA took kids deep into an amazing undersea adventure where they experienced the ever-flowing, never ending love of God. Kids were immersed in the Word and discovered what living water is really all about
Trinity’s Mission Trip
For this year’s Mission Trip, our 4th “Week of Hope” with Group Mission Trips, we traveled to Newark, NY, a rural community east of Syracuse. On Sunday night we met our crew for the week. We all served together with two kids from another church, Roselyn and Liam from Bethel Grove, New York. We served at the “Trail of Hope” in Lyons, New York. This was a trail at the edge of a woods at a community center in Lyons, New York. The caretaker of the trail was Mark, who was our leader for the week. It is a trail of gardens, both flowers and vegetables, each little garden was in honor of someone or something, dedicated to possibly someone sick, or that had passed away. Mark had story upon story of people this trail had touched over the years. It needed a “LOT” of TLC, tender loving care. And we were ready!
Another job we were tasked with was to help an elderly woman from Mark’s church.. She had the need of a new mailbox and also needed her deck painted. So for the start of the week, we separated and the boys went there and the girls stayed at the trail. Because the deck was such a big job, we didn’t get it finished, but Mark shared “after” pics with us the next week. The Week of Hope campers finished what we started the next week so that made us feel good. Everyone worked so hard with her home and the trail.
Back at the church, every day we had morning services where we learned our theme for the day. At the job site we had crew devotions, then in the evening we had worship time, and then closed the day with our own youth group devotions. The overall theme was “INFLUENCER”. We dominated the lip sync show on Thursday night with our Princess Medley and the BeeGees singing “Stayin’ Alive”. We AGAIN won the coveted “GOLDEN PLUNGER”! This is awarded to the group that has helped the “red shirts”, the college aged girls running the camp, with basically anything that needs to be done. We were “in their faces” constantly asking, “What can we do”!? Points were awarded and the group with the most won the plunger. We now have two golden plungers that will be proudly displayed at church. We want to thank Trinity for giving us this amazing opportunity to serve!
Trinity’s Mission Trippers
Agape Table Meal
September’s Agape meal served 75 platters. The Kitchen Committee has now decided to always make extra food, so that we can send a monthly meal to Haven Ministries in Sunbury. Our thanks to Robin Otto and Bev Hand for agreeing to deliver the food to Haven Ministries.
October’s Agape Meal will be held on Wednesday, October 9th in the social hall at 5:30 PM .
October’s menu will be beef stroganoff/noodles, pepper cabbage, green beans, and cake. Pass the word to your friends and neighbors. Trinity’s Agape Table meal is always free. No offering is ever taken at the meal. Although registration is not required, signing up helps the Kitchen Committee better plan the amount of food to cook. You can sign up on the easel at the back of the sanctuary, or by calling the church office at (570) 682-9373 by Monday, September 30.
