August Highlights

Last Week of Day Camp, Week of August 5th

The final week of Frieden’s Trinity Summer Day Camp was the week of August 5th. We had another very successful year thanks to the Day Camp Board members, staff, and children who attended.

Mary Sunday, August 11th

We celebrated Mary Sunday using the Holden Evening Prayer Service. This was an observance of Mary travelling over the mountain to Elizabeth when Mary was pregnant with Jesus and Elizabeth was pregnant with John the Baptist.

Student Recognitions, August 18th

We recognized and celebrated our recent high school graduates who are pursuing higher learning. We wish them well in this new chapter of their lives. Our prayers go with them for a safe, happy and successful experience.

We lift them up to God in pray

  • To strengthen their resolve to follow God no matter what happens

  • To seek God’s wisdom above all else

  • To discern the enemy’s voice and tactics

  • To find Godly friendships To do well in their studies

  • To be safe

  • To always know their worth in Christ amidst the constant pressures they will face To give their bodies and mind a rest so they can be fully alert

  • To find rest in God so their burdens never weigh them down

We also recognized our preschool, elementary, high school students, and educators with our annual “Blessing of Backpacks”. If you were unable to attend, you may want to pray this prayer over your student…

Dear God,

As we get ready to start another year in school, we ask your blessing on these backpacks and especially on these children who will wear them.

As they do the very important work of being students, bless them with eagerness to learn that their world may grow large; respect for teachers and students that they may form healthy relationships; love for nature that they may become caretakers of your creation; happiness when learning is easy and stick-to-it-iveness when it is hard; faith in Jesus as their best teacher and closest friend.

We ask that you would protect these, your own children. Watch over them and keep them safe as they travel to and from school.

As they learn, help them also to discover the different gifts that you have given each one of them to be used in your work in the world.

As they hear the many voices that will fill their days, help them to listen most carefully for your voice, the one that tells them you will love them always, no matter what.

We ask this in Jesus’ name. Amen

Men in Harmony Concert, August 25th

We were fortunate to host the Men in Harmony Concert on Sunday afternoon at 3:00 PM. The concert began with musical selections by the Blue Mountain Heritage Chorus followed by Men in Harmony selections and ending with songs performed by both groups together. What an enjoyable experience it was! Our sincere thanks to them for sharing their message of God’s love and presence in our lives and filling our sanctuary with such beautiful music.

Agape Table Meal

August’s Agape meal served 60 platters. The kitchen committee has now decided to always make extra food, so that we can send a monthly meal to Haven Ministries in Sunbury. Our thanks to Robin Otto for agreeing to deliver the food to Haven Ministries.

September’s Agape Meal will be held on Wednesday, September 11 in the social hall at 5:30 PM .

September’s menu will be chicken parmesan, pasta/sauce, Italian bread, green beans, and dessert. Pass the word to your friends and neighbors. Trinity’s Agape Table meal is always free. No offering is ever taken at the meal. Although registration is not required, signing up helps the Kitchen Committee better plan the amount of food to cook. You can sign up on the easel at the back of the sanctuary, or by calling the church office at (570)682-9373 by Monday, September 2.
