October Highlights

We Remember
All Saints Sunday

When we were baptized we were embraced by God through Jesus Christ with the Holy Spirit actually making that work ours.  The cross provides the reminder that as we suffer for many different reasons this side of heaven we are joined by Christ. Proof?  His suffering on the cross.  As the Father embraced the son on Easter morning that becomes our embrace the moment that we breathe our last.  Therefore, we can commend those we love to that ultimate embrace.  Once a year the church pauses and recognizes those whom they have lost in this earthly vale.

St. Francis Day/Blessing of the Animals

Dare I say we had fun yet we worshipped as we celebrated St Francis and brought our pets to worship for a blessing?  We provided an additional prelude to worship that Sunday as they hooted and hollered to get themselves settled.  Once Jack Umholtz initiated his prelude everything settled down as ALL God’s creature gathered for worship.  Pastor Diefenderfer blessed each of the pets brought to worship with the words “You were created by God, and you are loved by God, May you and your human family experience joy and companionship together, and continue to be a blessing to each other.  In the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.  Amen.  Our thanks to all who brought their pet to be blessed.

Harvest Home

On October 9th and 10th we celebrated Harvest Home.  We look at this as a time to thank God for his many blessings, and to share with those less fortunate than ourselves.  This year’s recipient of our Harvest Home donations was the Tri-Valley Food Closet.  Thank you for sharing with your neighbors in need.

Reformation Sunday

We celebrated Reformation on October 30th and 31st.  During our worship service, Pastor Diefenderfer helped us understand our church history by explaining our seven treasures – Holy Bible, Baptismal font, Communion bread plate and chalice, skeleton keys, stole, worship book, Cross.

12th Apartment for Brethren Housing Association (BHA)

In our continued support of BHA, our 12th apartment was cleaned and furnished.  A mother with an young child moved in at the end of October.  Thank you for the many contributions given to make it a home for them.

Altar Linens

Four of us inventoried all the altar linens that we possess as we decided keep or dispose, chose what would be replaced, and ordered new linens to fitfully present the most precious Body and Blood of Christ.  Memorial monies will cover the expenses.

Agape Table Meal

Trinity’s free Agape Table meal served 80 meals on October 13. November’s free meal will be held on Wednesday, November 10 at 5:30. November’s menu will be meatloaf, roast potatoes/carrots, green beans, rolls, and cake. Although we encourage preregistration for the meal so that Kitchen Committee has an idea of how many will be attending, we will never turn anyone away. Please spread the word that this ministry is open to everyone, not just members of Trinity. Call the church office (570) 682-9373 by Monday, November 1 to preregister by leaving your name and number of people planning to attend. Remember – take-out meals will only be available for shut ins.

Passion Rescue Mission

$1,700 collected through giving and fundraising by Trinity was sent to Passion Rescue Mission to combine with donations from other sources to fund another reservoir in Haiti.

Prayers for Haiti

Archelet Duverne is requesting prayers for the people in Haiti.  Corruption, hurricanes, earthquakes, gang violence, illiteracy and barriers to education, poverty, lack of access to water and food continue.  He is asking us to remember the people of Haiti and keep them in our prayers.

Your Property Committee at Work

We examined where the best place would be for the clothing bins in the parking lot since they have received vandalism more than once.  And it was decided under the light closer to the church building.

We reviewed a good piece of homework that Paul had done in the creation of a property budget for 2022.

I don’t think we’re speaking out of turn here when we say that we would enjoy your presence at our next meeting the first Monday in January / 3rd / at 6 PM ( Just show up for one)
