June Highlights
Happy Father’s Day
On Sunday June 20th we celebrated Father’s Day with a very meaningful worship service and most inspiring sermon. You follow a long line of people: Adam, Abraham, Joseph, and Jairus. All who embraced the gift of life God had placed in their lives. An important vocation in God’s plan and intent for humanity has evolved over the years. Dads are involved in dual carrier families. They live their lives tuned to the internet while providing and caring remain in place. Thank you for your part in our lives. And if your Dad is no longer with us, maybe a visit to the graveside could be meaningful. And thank you to Pastor for the gift he generously gave each Dad to celebrate the day.
“My father didn’t do anything unusual. He only did what dads are supposed to do – be there.” - Max Lucado
Family Movie Night
The first of three Family Movie Nights was held on Thursday, June 17th at the Valley View Park. The featured film was “Wonder”. A free will offering was taken with all proceeds going to the Passion Rescue Mission. It was a perfect night to watch this excellent movie in the park. Such an pleasant way to spend a summer evening.
11th Completed for Brethren Housing Association’s (BHA) Adopt-An-Apartment
In June members of Trinity and St. James Pitman completed the cleaning and furnishing of the 11th apartment for BHA’s Adopt-An Apartment Program. This apartment located in Harrisburg is a third floor, one-bedroom residence which will become a home for a mother and her young child. As always, a big thank you to all who helped clean the apartment, and for donating and transporting the items needed to complete the furnishing of this apartment and make it a home for this homeless family. BHA has programs or partners with other organizations to help young mothers become self-sufficient. Included are job training/seeking/maintaining services, parenting education, life skills training, counseling services, and youth programs for the kids. BHA staff and volunteers continuously show these moms the love and care they need to develop and realize their own self-worth, empowering them to overcome the obstacles that lead them to the homeless situation.
Kitchen Committee’s big news is that Agape Table meals will return to Trinity’s Social Hall in September!
This has been long awaited by committee members and meal attendees alike. Once the Agape meal returns to the Social Hall, takeouts will only be provided for shut-ins. All others will be asked to stay and join us in fellowship over the monthly free meal. If you haven’t joined us for a meal before, please consider attending. If you’re a regular, please help us spread the word that our free community meals are moving back inside in September. The food is made with lots of love, and everyone is welcome!
