Cleaning and Furnishing of 8th BHA Apartment Completed

In September, members of Trinity and St. James Pitman completed cleaning and furnishing their eighth apartment for the Brethren Housing Association’s Adopt-An-Apartment Program. This apartment located on Hummel Street in Harrisburg is a second and third floor, four-bedroom residence which will soon become a home for a mom and her five children.  A big thanks to all who helped clean, and for donating and transporting the items needed to completely furnish this apartment and make it a home for this homeless family.

BHA has programs or partners with other organizations to help moms become self-sufficient. Included is job training/seeking/maintaining services, parenting education, life skills training, counseling services, and youth programs for the kids. BHA staff and volunteers continuously show these moms the love and care they need to develop and realize their own self-worth, empowering them to overcome the obstacles that lead them to the homelessness situation.
