Mission Trip 2020 Update

Thanks to all of you who have helped support Trinity’s upcoming Mission Trip, whether it be monetarily, prayerfully, supporting the fundraisers, etc. It means so much to have the support of our congregation! The Mission Trip to Wayne County, NY, this year serves as a wonderful way for intergenerational interaction, as well as learning to share your faith in the bigger faith community, meeting others who share your faith and sharing your faith with those who are downtrodden, building a closer relationship with people from the congregation that you may not have the opportunity to build without spending several days together, learning team-building, sharing a goal, feeling the love and support of those at home, learning more about faith through several devotion times per day, exciting music and worship, activities for when you aren’t working at your assignment, taking care of others by helping prepare food and cleaning the areas that we stay in, and so much more.

The preparation for the trip is just as important. The fundraisers help by making the trip affordable for anyone to go. But that is only part of it. It is also the camaraderie that occurs when you are all working together for a goal. You get comfortable with those who will be attending the trip. The work done at the various locations is not always easy. By the end of the week everyone is tired, but they are also energized in the knowledge that they have helped many other people in need. It stretches us all. But it also strengthens us to do more. Adults are needed on these trips. They are needed to show by example, to keep the youth on task, if needed, to encourage the youth as well as each other, to show that they care about the youth in the congregation and beyond, and to learn as well. Even the rides to and from our destinations are learning experiences. We come up with ways to make the trip go quicker by telling stories and playing games or just talking about random things.

There is so much more to say, but, in conclusion, we would again like to thank all of those who have supported the mission trip by attending the fundraisers, encouraging more people to go along on the trips, and most importantly, your prayers.
