November Highlights
Confirmation of Emma Maurer
On November 3rd we were happy to welcome Emma Maurer as the newest Baptized and Confirmed member of Trinity Lutheran Church. As is the tradition for confirmands, Emma shared her faith in the Triune God by stating her person beliefs in her statement of faith which she read to the congregation. We extend our love and support to her as she continues to grow in her faith and relationship with Christ Jesus.
All Saints Sunday
We observed All Saints Day, one of the oldest observances on the church calendar, on November 3rd. We gave thanks to God for the lives of saints past and present, saints being all those who truly follow Christ. We remembered loved ones who have gone to join the Church Triumphant in the past year as we lit a candle in their memory, giving thanks to God for their presence with us. The saints we remembered were:
Bobbie Harner
Lorraine Kimmel
Amy Wolff
Donald Harring
Levi Miller
Richard Wolf
Velma Hoffner
Rose Spotts
Cathy Zerbe
Sonny & Cher Comedy Hour
What a wonderful evening we shared together on November 3rd as we raised funds for our mission trip in July 2020 and to help Brethren Housing Association (BHA). The evening began with dinner and fellowship followed by the Lip Sync Show hosted by our own Sonny and Cher. In addition to these two favorites, we also enjoyed performances by the Supremes, Johnny Cash with June Carter Cash, the Jackson 5, Elton John and Kiki Dee, Cyndi Lauper and the girls, Sister Sledge, and Billy Joel the Piano Man. We ended our evening by drawing winners for all the baskets and gift cards so generously donated for this event. The evening was a great success… not only did we have a lot of fun together but we also raised $1,540 for our mission trip and $1,100 for BHA. Thanks to all who contributed and participated in the evening.
Agape Community Meal
Our monthly Agape Community meal continued on November 13th serving chicken noodle soup, baked ham and cheese sliders, chips, and cake. Thanks to all who helped and who attended the meal and fellowship.
Breakfast with the Bible
On November 16th, members of both Trinity And Friedens Llewellyn met for Breakfast at Mama Bear’s in Branchdale (the former Anne’s Bakery). After breakfast, we studied and talked about the second lesson for that next Sunday, which challenged us to envision what the church should be doing that we sometimes struggle with. We talked about our humanity and the fact that the church in Paul’s time shared much of our challenges. We also talked about how God had seen us through many of those challenges. Sound interesting? We had great conversation and shared in stories and laughter. We will next meet on Saturday, January 11th, again at Mama Bear’s, at 8:00 AM.
Annual Nativity Puppet Show
On Sunday, November 24th we had our Annual Nativity Puppet Show to prepare for Advent and the Christmas season. Our confirmation class did the puppet show this year for the children in our Sunday School program. After the show, Ayden Rodichok and Hunter Troutman reviewed the story by asking some questions about the First Christmas. Our thanks to all.
Miles to Mend
Two requests for Miles to Mend were fulfilled in November, and we received another donation from Redner's thanks to your bringing of receipts. Please continue to bring your receipts so that we can continue to help those in need. They can be placed in the plastic container on top of the red hymnal case behind the pews in the sanctuary. Also feel free and able to nominate someone for assistance. Those nominated will receive a Redner's gift card to offset the gas they would use for traveling to ongoing appointments. Nomination forms can be found on the table in the office entrance. Thank you for helping your church help others!
Heartfelt Thanks
The Family of Levi Miller Jr. would like to thank everyone for their thoughts, prayers, cards, hugs, and words of comfort during our recent bereavement. It’s wonderful knowing that Trinity has such a caring congregation
