I remember when my grandmother who was a full time housewife would prepare Thanksgiving dinner, pies and all (mince meat pie and everybody would giggle when Nanna would dole out the schnapps for the pie/once a year when she permitted the consumption of alcohol in her home) for two days before Thanksgiving, attend worship on Thanksgiving Day, and relatives near and far would all sit down at 12:30 PM for the Thanksgiving dinner. Life changes. It brings a different way that we do things. We don’t even hold community worship for Thanksgiving. But please take time to thank God, despite what we have encountered this past year, for our families, for our nation, for our church and for the gift of life.
